Interview with Vincenzo Oliverio
Having employees who love their job is a plus for the company.
This is definitely the case for Vincenzo, who has been part of SRMTec for 4 years and dedicates himself to compressor testing every day.
How did you start this job?
“I started at SRMTec as a simple worker. I was offered the opportunity to be trained, working alongside the laboratory manager, and so I dedicated myself to quality tests on compressors”.
What does your job consist of?
“I dedicate myself to the testing of compressors at 360°: general performance, noise, yield, etc.
After passing the first leak test, all compressors manufactured at SRMTec are put on the bench and tested with R134a refrigerant and CO2 in case of CO2 compressors.
Main values to be monitored during testing:
– Volume: how much mass (refrigerant) the compressor can handle at suction and discharge
– Refrigerant temperature at suction and discharge
– Abs Power: the electrical energy consumption of the compressor in operation
– Oil Pressure
During testing, the compressor is tested in all power ranges (25%, 50%, 75% and 100%); in addition, at each step, I carry out the stability test to check if there are any oil leaks internally.
The compressor is tested in its entirety, including any optional extras that the customer has chosen in the configuration phase, such as oil sensor, pressure switch, flow switch,..”
How long does a test last?
“Approximately 30 minutes of functionality. This testing phase allows the compressor to warm up and all seals to be adjusted before the second leak test”.
What happens if there are problems during the test?
“The compressor is stopped and checked: based on the parameters marked on the computer, I can identify the problem and intervene promptly, even with the support of colleagues in the assembly department if necessary. I make sure that every compressor that leaves the test bench meets 100% of the quality standards of Made in Italy”.
Do you like this job?
“I love my job, I am very passionate about it. Every tested compressor that leaves my station is a compressor that is 100% ready to meet the customer’s needs. That’s what satisfies me the most”.
Thank you Vincenzo!
